Video game enthusiasts helped raise money for sick children Oct 8 and 9 by participating in a 36-hour video game marathon to benefit the Children's Miracle Network at UNM Children's Hospital.
The marathon, Extra Life For Kids (ELFK), was held from 9a.m. Oct. 8 through 9 p.m. Oct 9 in the Physical Science Laboratory at NMSU. Interested participants over the age of 17 are expected to collect sponsorships from individuals, departments, or groups prior to the event.
"I never thought I could channel my love of gaming into something so worthwhile," said Patrick McDougle, a graduate student at NMSU and PSL employee who lead the marathon for a second year. "The marathon is a lot of fun and at the end of those 36 long hours, it feels great to hand the check over to the hospital."
